If you are traveling alone in an RV for the first time, in this post we share a few tips to help you prepare for your adventure. It is recommended you ask yourself important questions. Does the RV have any quirks that you should know? Do you know how to change the gas tank? How do you setup the awning? Etc.
Traveling alone in an RV
Familiarize yourself with the vehicle before leaving. Consider its size and whether you can navigate tight streets safely? It is also important that you think about getting health insurance if you plan to travel for a long time. Should something happen, then you are covered.
If you are planning your adventure in colder weather, it is advisable to bring a mini heater with you. A rough route planning is also recommended so that you can plan supply facilities along the way. It is recommended that you take a small first aid kit with you. It should contain the following:
• Bandages and plasters • A good pain reliever (please use with caution) • Anti-mosquito and tick spray • A hot water bottle
Finding a good RV parking space
It is always a good idea to park in daylight. In this way, you can familiarize yourself with your surroundings. If you are on an RV park, check who your neighbors are. Are they people who want to party and where it can get loud at night? A family with children? Often a short “hello” helps and you can tell from their reply what your experience will likely be next to them. Other factors to consider when checking out your surroundings is if there enough privacy.
Have your camper ready for departure in case you really get scared or feel uncomfortable at night. Then you can just jump from the bed into the driver’s seat and drive off. This means that you should park your camper in such a way that you can drive off which means having camping furniture stowed inside at night.
